Function Module Partition Method for Product Innovative Design

Abstract
In order to meet customers’ diversity requirements and to shorten design and assembly time, a function module partition method for product innovative design is proposed. Firstly, the similitude matrix is constructed according to the relativity between customer requirements and function units. Secondly, the partitioned modules are evaluated by internal clustering degree and external detached degree among function units. At the same time, the partitioned modules’ validity is judged by three kinds of flows’ connections. Thirdly, product function units are partitioned by a modified Genetic Algorithm. Finally, an example is given to show the effectiveness of the approach.
