Parametric Generation Method for Irregular Needling Embroidery Rendering

  • Irregular needling embroidery is a traditional Chinese embroidery art combining painting and embroidering.In order to protect and inherit it by computers, we present a parametric generation method for irregular needling embroidery rendering.First, aparametric stitch model for irregular needling embroidery is defined, which describes line density, length, and orientation to express the rendering effect.Then an image parsing method is used to extract image regions and a stitch model is constructed for each region to express hierarchical image contents.Finally, the rendering result is generated by mapping image vector fields and non-uniform image grids to orientation and length parameters of the stitch model.Experimental results show that the proposed method can generate irregular needling embroidery rendering effects effectively.
