Development of Virtual Grinding Wheel and Its Grinding Performance Analysis

  • Based on virtual reality technology,an interactive and virtual grinding environment was implemented.By taking ortho-hexahedron as the basic form of abrasive grains that are distributed randomly on the grinding wheel base,the model of virtual grinding wheel is built.Mathematic model of interference between the abrasive grains and the workpiece is given.Taking surface grinding as an example,grinding processes with different machining parameters are simulated dynamically.The grinding performance of the virtual grinding wheel is also tested.Influence factors of the formed surface roughness are analyzed.The simulation results are consistent with the theoretical analysis.It is proved that the method applied in grinding mechanism is feasible.
