DISTANCE BETWEEN COMPLEX OBJECTS

Abstract
Abstract It is important to compute the distance between objects in some fields such as packing problems, dynamic simulation systems, path planning of robots and collision detection. In this paper, an octree-based method is proposed to compute separate distances, interference ones and directional ones between complex objects. The problem for computing the distance between complex objects is solved well by means of Minkowski differences and the traversal of tree traverse.
