3D Finite Element Adaptive Mesh Generation

  • In this paper, various modes such as center-point mode, datum-curve mode, datum-surface mode, are designed for generating graded finite element mesh in the special areas of the solid object to be analyzed. After selection of appropriate modes to act on the special areas according to the geometric and physical features, an information field of element size is built in a manner of projection. An algorithm based on Delaunay triangulation is developed for adaptive mesh generation, in which element size changes dynamically. The method is applied successfully to 3D finite element adaptive mesh generation, by taking the geometric and physical features of the solid object well into consideration.
