Abstract
In computer graphics, a objects are often represented by triangle meshes. With development of computer modeling, asimulation, avisualization and virtual reality technology, athe issue of simplifying the triangle mesh model with texture would be often encountered.An algorithm for simplification of triangle mesh model with texture is introduced in the paper.The paper proposes a novel metric to incorporate the geometric information and surface texture information of 3D models. Furthermore, athe accumulative error can be eliminated by recording steps of edge collapse.As a result, athe algorithm can be applied to generate simplified models, aclosest to the original in shape and texture.
