Restoration of Degraded Image from Partially-Known Mixed Blur

  • Due to the complicacy of environment, digital images may be degraded by various blurs. An image restoration method for the degradation model is proposed in this paper.Unlike traditional approaches,we assume that the blur kernel is the mixture of defocus and motion blurs.Given the defocus blur, the statistical characteristic of the motion blur is exploited by using generalized Laplacian model, and then the mixed blur is identified using the expectation maximization(EM) algorithm. Finally the degraded image can be restored based on the estimated blur.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method could identify the blur effectively, and improve visual quality of the degraded images.
