Real-Time Reconstruction of Realistic Fluid

  • A new three dimensional fluid reconstruction method is proposed to resolve the slow performance and low accuracy in previous fluid reconstruction methods.Firstly,normal vectors of fluid surface are estimated by shape-from-shading method,meanwhile,a stoke model is employed to obtain the height of fluid surface.Then,details of reconstructed surface are processed to obtain locations of sprays and fit the fluid surface in a curved surface with a bivariate normal distribution.Finally,the splash effect is generated according to the result of fitting process,which enhances the realism of fluid and shows the state of fluid motion.The experiment shows that the method achieves real-time performance and generates realistic fluid,which can be further applied in developing ofother augmented reality techniques.
