RBF Modeling From Parallel Slices of Contours

This paper applies the technique of RBF interpolation to the problem of surface reconstruction from parallel slices of contours. This method can produce smooth surface because it minimizes the total energy of the surface. RBF-based interpolation requires expensive computation, so we propose local RBF method to decompose large-scale problem into small-scale ones. A fast algorithm for polygonizing reconstructed surface is also proposed. Experimental results show that it is a practical method.
