Improvement of Volume-of-Fluid Method and Reconstruction of Smooth 3D Surface of Liquid

  • In order to realistically simulate fluid flows, we first improved the solution procedure of the volume-of-fluid (VOF) method and more precise advection of fluid cells, including the surface and inner cells, was obtained. Volume errors are reduced largely on the whole. A novel surface reconstruction approach, called the 'seed-round empty' scheme, regarding the strategy of geometrical search was set forth. The fluid surface generally containing gaps in VOF method is now represented as a set of triangle pieces connected with C0 continuity. Examples illustrate realistic liquid scenes with smooth surface on relatively coarse grids.
