Abstract
To assist in designing products with the market demanded styles, this paper presents a method based on the correlation between the geometrical features of the profile and style images.Four evaluating indicators, including length ratio, non-straightness, convex?concave degree and S-Shaped degree, are chosen to characterize the geometrical features of each functional non-closed curve.By classifying the semantic value of each feature indicator qualitatively, the integrated semantic description of geometric feature for profile curves of the object product is obtained.Subsequently, combining with the results of questionnaire survey and statistical analysis, we build the quantitative analytical correlations between the geometrical feature semantic of the profile curves and style images.Finally, some applications in the products of ceramic bottle, glass and mouse are given, which demonstrate that the proposed method is sufficiently effective and helpful in product style design.
