Research on Top-Down Geometric Modeling in Computer Aided Industrial Design

  • On the basis of general design theory, metamodel focusing on the design evolution process and aspect-model focusing on industrial design views are used as abstract levels to organize the geometric modeling process in industrial design. The hierarchy of geometric information represented in the form of directed graph is used to record the design intents and design history, it reflects the relations among geometric information in different abstract levels. Feasibility of such an approach is verified in the layout of a long head car with front-mounted engine and rear driving box.
