Deformation Transfer for Point Set Surface Based on Vertex Deformation Gradient

  • In order to reuse the existing deformation of given model,a novel approach is proposed to transfer the deformation of the source point set to the target one.By the approach,we represent the deformation of the source point set with the vertex deformation gradients.Deformation transfer is implemented via a global quadric energy optimization, which minimizes the difference between the actual vertex deformation gradient and the computed one.The vertex deformation gradient is defined by its k-nearest points, and a closed-form solution is obtained through energy optimization. This approach is applied on point set surface directly.Neither the topology-like mesh nor the consistency of sampling points and correspondence is needed.Experiments show that this approach can efficiently transfer the deformation from the source point set to the target point set.
