A Method of Recognizing and Suppressing Detailed Features for Model Simplification

  • The simplification of CAD models is an important issue in the research of CAX integration.A simple and efficient method of recognizing and suppressing detailed features is proposed.The method uses sufficiently detailed feature information implied in feature parameters and sketches.Firstly, by analyzing the effective part of sketch and its parameters, comparing the projective size of feature and finding the short sketch elements, detailed features are recognized.Secondly, by building the relation graph of features and the updating rules, the integrity of topological structures is maintained.Lastly, the rules of updating sketches are given when reconstructing the feature.Experimental results show that the above-mentioned method can recognize and suppress detailed features rapidly and implement the simplification of CAD model.
