System Design on 3D Dental Model Analysis and Diagnosis

Abstract
We introduce the technique on digital model generation for 3D dental plaster models using 3D measuring techniques, by which hierarchical bounding volumes structures are constructed from triangular meshes to implement a quick selecting framework. With the framework and feature extraction algorithms, most important measurements can be performed. Finally, a diagnosis report is provided for doctors with both measurement data and normal value from standard database. The application of the system will contribute to the development of diagnosis techniques.
