Abstract
In this paper we propose a shrinking algorithm preserving connectivity for binary images.The proposed algorithm divides a binary image into disjoint rectangle blocks.The pixels in the smooth regions are processed according to the human visual system.The pixels in the edge regions are processed according to the human visual system and considering the connectivity with their local neighbor regions.Experiment results show that the proposed shrinking algorithm maintain good topology preservation in comparison with existing shrinking algorithms.
