Model and Animation of Water in Chinese Painting Style

  • Traditional Chinese painting is one of the most important art forms in China and water plays an important role in Chinese paintings. However, little effort has been paid to the water simulation with Chinese painting style.A water model with the style of Chinese painting is presented.First,we construct a series of basic shapes by use of Bézier curves,we then generate ripples by connecting a number of basic shapes and put them on the water surface constructed by a procedural mode.During the phase of animation,we arrange ripples on the water surface and control their movements along the specified direction as well as their dynamic behaviors with a specially designed procedure. In order to show the depth,we let colors and widths of the lines that draw ripples vary along the depth.Experimental results show that the proposed model is able to generate a wide variety of animations in Chinese painting style.
