Physical-Geometric Mixed Model for 3D Clothing Simulation

  • For the efficiency of 3D cloth simulation, a multiple-model method combining both the geometric and physical method is proposed in this paper.By analyzing the dynamic ease allowance between cloth and human model as well as the detail complexity of local cloth patches, the region factor of each cloth vertex is obtained.According to the region factor, the cloth is partitioned into three model levels as tight-level, float-level and loose-level.To improve the simulation efficiency, the tight-level and float-level are deformed via the skinning method and as-rigid-as-possible method respectively;while the loose-level simulated using the physical based method for dynamics detail preserving. Finally, the simulation result is obtained by applying different collision detection and response schemes on these three model levels respectively.Experimental results show our method can achieve visually plausible cloth simulation in real-time.
