Roll Back of Assembly Process in Virtual Environment

  • Roll back of assembly process was implemented in VIRDAS (Virtual Reality Design and Assembly System) to facilitate the iterative refinement of assembly process planning. Global roll back permits rapid back tracking the position and relationship of parts in the assembly sequence to any previous state using the recorded assembly task time as index of destination. Local roll back backtracks the assembly history according to the correlation of constraints and geometric fitting in assembly and restores the relevant parts to detached state. Experiments show such functions can enhance the quality and efficiency of virtual assembly design process.
