Product Similarity Reasoning: a Description Logic Approach

A knowledge based similarity-evaluation method for product design is proposed.It requires that semantic annotation is attached to the design cases under investigation.Product ontology is referred to and semantic information is added to product documents for the different aspects of its life cycle.Description logic reasoning is used to build a product conceptual classification tree,and the distances between corresponding concept nodes are taken as the criteria of product design similarity.The algorithm for building the conceptual classification tree is also proposed and validated.
