A Fast Deconvolution Algorithm for Correcting Myopia/Hyperopia in Head Mounted Display

  • Head mounted display(HMD) has been rapidly developed and used in recent virtual reality applications. When using HMD, users with refractive problems need to wear corrective glasses, which brings inconvenience to them and influences the user experience on the realism of the virtual environment. This paper proposes a fast correction method based on image deconvolution, which only changes the content to be displayed to achieve better display for users without requiring the corrective glasses. This method first uses Zernike Polynomialsto model the refractive problems of users. Then an L2 based regularization is involved in the optimization to calculate a pre-corrected image for the users. Fast Fourier transform(FFT) is further used to accelerate the optimization. Experimental results show that our method achieves equal quality comparing with the state-of-art visual correction method, but is one order magnitude faster.
