Research on STEP Feature Model and Its Application in the Integrated Environment of CIM

This paper addresses the application of STEP techniques in CIM environment and explores the principles of establishing STEP feature model, realizing feature-based modeling in CAD/CAPP, implementing STEP toolkit and carrying out model mapping. Based on these approaches, a kind of “Plug and Play” technique for feature mapping and information integration is discussed. Finally, a system independent method to feature-based CAD/CAPP integration is presented.
