Latest Survey of Physically-based Fluid Animation Acceleration Techniques

  • As one of the most active research subject of computer graphics,physically-based fluid animation is under rapid development, especially in recent years.However,physically-based fluid simulation involves solving the complex nonlinear motion equations which often takes a lot of time. While real-time is an important target of computer graphics,it is a challenge how to improve the simulation performance. This paper investigates the latest progress of fluid animation acceleration techniques by analyzing the involved computation steps, including efficient representation of fluid components, compact grid, efficient numerical methods, parallel processors etc.As a survey this paper tries to give clues like mixed representations for future research targeting the real-time performance about fluid animation.
