Rapid Design for 3D Structures of Typical Knot Art Products

  • Chinese traditional knot art products usually have complicated structures,yet the design work is still manual,which needs digital design techniques to improve efficiency and enhance the innovation.A rapid design method for knot art products is proposed based on woven structure modeling techniques,which can generate 3D models according to 2D vector charts the designers are familiar with.The correct structures are built through automatic recognition of up and down state in cross points with the help of user's interactive revising.This method avoids mathematical modeling work for the complicated interlacing structures.For the combination of sack-form and wing-form structures which are characteristic in typical Chinese knot art products,the 3D structure's rapid modeling is realized through design chart dissection,edge-locking connections and sack-wing connections.Experiments show that the demand for user's skills is reduced because of the connecting mode's automatic recognition and interactive choice making,through which the design process for knot art products is also significantly simplified.
