Survey of Modeling and Representation of Tolerance Information in CAD System

Seamless and effective integration of CAD and CAM is increasingly demanded by manufacturing industries. To realize this, tolerance information is imperative for transferring the functional requirements of CAD to process planning in CAPP. In this study, a survey of tolerance modeling and representation is presented. The representation methods are reviewed and their distinguishing characteristics are identified. Moreover, the existing problems and possible solution strategies are discussed.
