Abstract
In this paper, a novel method of brush stroke simulation is proposed by introducing force feedback technology into virtual painting processes. A new brush model based on mass-spring model is constructed by analyzing the relationship between force and brush deformation, which can realistically simulate the morphological changes of real brush subjected to force. According to the deformation at each sampling point, the footprint of the brush on the rice paper is calculated. The complete brush stroke is implemented by superimposing footprint series along the sampling points, and the dynamic painting of brush stroke is accomplished. The proposed method is applied to simulate brush stroke using Phantom Desktop. Experiment results show that the proposed method can enhance user realistic experience effectively.
