Matching Research of 3D Object Model with Terrain in Virtual Environment

Abstract
A four-support-point matching method is applied. The corresponding arithmetic for detecting the untouched support point and occurrence of thumbling are given. Cases of single point matching, 2-point (line) matching, and 3-point (face) matching are analyzed and the speed, rendering quality and application of each approach are illustrated. Concluding remarks on the basic principle of selecting the appropriate approach and its implementation are presented.
