Abstract
In this paper, we propose a method of estimating defeaturing-induced finite element analysis(FEA) impacts and compensating boundary conditions for simplified models. By analyzing the key factors resulting in FEA impacts of simplified models, we estimate the impacts induced by defeaturing based on the reciprocal theorem and apply the impacts to guide models simplification. Furthermore, we use the information obtained from the suppressed features to compensate boundary conditions for the simplified models. It is a computationally effective method to improve the analysis accuracy of the simplified models. It can be applied to the linear static analysis of elastic structures.
