Mesh Editing Based on Feature Equalization

  • The feature distribution editing has received few attention in previous work on mesh editing. In this paper, a novel algorithm for mesh editing based on feature equalization is proposed.First, the Laplacian coordinates are reformed via the histogram equalization;second, the mesh editing problem is formulated as a quadratic optimization problem, which is easily solved by solving a sparse linear system.Combined with the constraints on the mesh vertices and triangle barycenters, our method can preserve the basic shape while editing the mesh feature.Based on the Laplacian coordinates of mesh vertices, this paper attempts to find a built-in modeling control mechanisms. It provides a novel solution to mesh editing and feature optimization, which implicitly combines controlling the overall shape and preserving the local details.Experimental results show that our method is easy to implement and can be applied to several areas such as mesh editing and 3D shape modeling.
