Real-Time Mesh Editing Using Extended Mean Value Coordinates

  • In order to clone protrusive and complex mesh effectively, this paper presents an interactive mesh editing approach based on extended mean value coordinates.Firstly, the user selects region of interest on the source mesh. The region is mapped into a 2D parametric domain using vertical projection parameterization and Abstracted into image texel. Then it is placed to the user assigned location on the target mesh.Secondly,3D information of the stitched mesh is retrieved by extended mean value coordinates parameter and the boundary difference of the region. Finally, the stitched mesh is deformed to match the target mesh.We use GPU to speed up the mesh cloning.Experimental results show our approach can copy arbitrary irregular mesh regions between two 3D models.
