A Grid-Based Collaborative Design and Simulation System for Car Crashworthiness

  • Design for car crashworthiness is a typical collaborative effort,which involves CAD/CAE integration and large-scale computing.Because of its capability to provide resources encapsulated from the service-oriented view to insulate the clients from the burden of knowing the complexity heterogeneous resources,grid computing has been discussed in the context of collaborative environments.This paper analyzed the crashworthiness design requirements,and proposed a four-level grid-based system architecture of collaborative design and simulation for car crashworthiness.The design principles,workflow and related tools of the system were also presented.The system takes resources as standard application middleware and services,which simplifies the integration and management of heterogeneous resources.In addition,the system ensures the geographically dispersed designers work together on the same platform.Finally,the collaborative design for the occupant chair is illustrated with the developed system.
