Video Content Aware Dynamic Subtitles

In this paper, a novel video content aware dynamic subtitle method is proposed.An energy function, which takes the video content, frame coherence and subtitle coherence into account, is defined and optimized to find an unimportant region in the video image, at which the subtitle is imposed.Two approaches are proposed to increase the contrast between subtitle and video image, i.e., dynamic subtitle color via color wheel and imposing outer strokes on the subtitles.Experimental results show that the video content aware dynamic subtitles can reduce the critical content occlusion and achieve good visual effects.
