Texture-Based High-Quality Flow Visualization on Surface

Abstract
An enhanced streamline algorithm is presented.It generates high-quality textures to represent the vector field on surfaces.By applying a high-pass filter to the convolutional texture along the orthogonal direction of the vectors, the contrast between streamlines is enhanced, and the vectors on surfaces can be easily observed.Our algorithm is image-space based with good spatial-temporal correlation.When incorporating the current graphics hardware, our algorithm can achieve a real-time rendering performance on a personal computer.
