B-Spline Surface Approximation with Boundary Constraints

Abstract
In order to obtain a globally G1 continuous surface model, least-square approximation of B-spline surfaces to scattered data with complicated boundary constraints is applied. As an example, solution to the most complex constraining conditions of continuity over four boundaries and cross-boundary tangency is addressed in detail. Application shows that the surface model can reach approximate global G1 continuity and satisfy the engineering requirements.
