ENGINEERING DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM SUPPORTING DESIGN PROCESS

Engineering design process have the properties of long duration, exploration and cooperation. The conventional business transaction concepts and methods can not meet the requirements of engineering design application. This paper presents the transaction model of the engineering database management system, OSCAR, describes its three kernel mechanisms to support engineering design process, these are check-out/check-in,savepoint/rollback and notification.
