Network-Centric Geometry Modeling Technology

In this paper, main research topics in the area of network-centric Computer Aided Design are briefly introduced. Focused on the interoperability of geometric data and design tools, the existing research works in the area of network-centric geometric modeling are reviewed from the following five key aspects: network-oriented model data representation, collaborative data exchange, network based model data transmission, multi-resolution geometric modeling, and network based modeling services. Some open research issues in the area are pointed out, and some future research directions are presented.
