Visual Analysis for Multi-Stage Ammunition Transfer Sequences on Aircraft Carrier

  • Aircraft carrier ammunition transfer is a multi-stage operation process, which involves many operational steps and is highly hazardous, and faces problems such as difficulty in analyzing the data manually, unclear status of munitions affecting the transfer efficiency, and difficulty in identifying potential safety hazards. However, the existing work is challenging to support the characteristics analysis of multi-stage ammunition transfer sequence and identify inefficient and high-risk transport links. In this regard, a visual analysis system for multi-stage munitions transfer process is designed and implemented through the collection of munitions transfer sequence data from the physical sand table of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, including control panel view, lower deck transfer view, upper deck transfer view, flight deck transfer view, and mission overview view, to assist operators in analyzing the factors affecting the efficiency and safety hazards of the ammunition transfer, the optimized parts of the transfer process can be locked. Through the case studies of transfer efficiency and safety hazards, the results verify the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed system for exploring the multi-stage characteristics of munitions transfer sequences on aircraft carriers.
