Abstract
The planning of socket layout is an essential part of residential interior design, as its placement is directly related to furniture layout. An automatic layout planning method for sockets in 3D residential scene is proposed. Firstly based on furniture layout examples and relevant building regulations, it mathematically models the safety constraints, electrical needs and accessibility of sockets. Secondly, it calculates the socket positions that satisfy safety, necessity and universality via maximum a posteriori estimation. Finally, the overall socket layout of the room is determined with the aesthetic constraints taken into consideration. By using a Likert scale to investigate users’ overall evaluation of socket layouts in terms of reasonableness, practicability and universality, the layouts generated by the proposed method achieve higher scores than the ones annotated by professional designer, which suggests that the proposed method can provide a reference for interior design.
