Wing-Surface Data Structure Supporting Volume Parametric Model Representation

  • In order to efficiently and concisely store the information of the volume parametric model, this paper proposes a wing-surface data structure to support the expression of the volume parametric model. Firstly, extracts geometric, topological, and parametric information of the volume parametric model. The geometric information mainly includes the node vector, order, and control point of the volume parametric model. The topological information mainly includes the data of the shared surfaces between two sub-patches. The parametric information mainly includes the parameter direction of the sub-patches. Similar to the wing-edge data structure for the boundary representation models, a wing-surface data structure is proposed and used to support the expression of volume parametric models. Based on the data structure, the operations of query, insertion, refinement, and deletion of the models are realized. The volume parametric modeling software is used to construct multiple models, and the process of storing and operating for the wing-surface data structure is demonstrated by these examples. The results show that the wing-surface data structure efficiently implements queries, refinements and other operations, maximum data compression reaches 47.9%, providing a good support for the construction and application of the complex volume parametric models.
