Visual Analysis of Big Data in Sichuan Opera Culture

Sichuan opera, as a typical representative of Bashu culture, contains rich historical characteristics and artistic value, but there is little research in the field of visualization. In order to increase the audience’s understanding of Sichuan opera, a visual analysis system of cultural big data in Sichuan opera is proposed, which constructs six visualization modules from three aspects: historical origin, artistic features and development and inheritance. Firstly, data sources and data characteristics are determined based on demand analysis, and then set visualization tasks. Secondly, the presentation scheme of Sichuan opera data is designed using textual, hierarchical, spatiotemporal, and multi-dimensional visualization techniques, and multiple interaction technologies are combined to achieve the correlation and analysis of multi-dimensional data. The system analyzed the development and inheritance of Sichuan opera by taking the formation, the change of facial features and the development of repertoire of Sichuan opera as case studies. It proves the system can effectively help users better understand the culture of Sichuan opera, and also provide a certain reference for the future research of cultural big data in other fields.
