Algorithm of Surface Model Parameterization with Parameter Domain Boundary as Straight as Possible

  • In order to support texture seam simplification and meet the requirement of texture mapping in mesh simplification,we introduce a parameterization method of surface model with parametric domain boundaries as straight as possible.The energy function is composed of transformation,anti-flip and sparsity items.Introducing auxiliary variable,we get approximate solution.In our experiments,we make a comparison between the proposed method and peering ones.Using default parameters,the proposed method is within a reasonable range of angle and area distortions.Further,we simplify the textured models using various parameterization methods to the same rates.Based on quantitative and visual comparisons,we confirm the advantages of the proposed algorithm.The proposed algorithm may be potentially applied to 3D games,aviation simulation and other fields.
