Abstract
Adding visual feedback to virtual environment is an effective way to enhance interaction performance. However, the influence of different feedbacks is unclear. This paper experimentally studies the visual feedback on freehand grasping interaction in HMD virtual environment. First, visual feedback types and color quantization method were specified. Then, based on freehand grasping characteristics, three positions were chosen as feedback carrier, including objects, fingers and synergy feedback. Three feedback colors were designed: referenced-color, contrasted-color and transparency feedback. Finally, user experiments were conducted. The results show that the feedback colors and feedback position have significant influence on grasping performance. There is a significant correlation between grasping performance and transparency. The grasping performance has no correlation with the color hue. The feedback position has a significant influence on the grasping performance.
