Cognitive Differences of Product Image Sketches Based on Sketch Eye Tracking

  • Emotional matching degree is an important index to evaluate the quality of design sketch.Designer’s cognition plays a key role in translating mental imagery to sketch.Analyzing the cognitive differences is the premise to improve the efficiency of design collaboration and the accuracy of screening more emotional matching sketch. To solve this problem, firstly,a cyclic design process was set up to screen out perceptual keywords about design, and then their imagery attribute were classified;secondly,Tobii eye tracker was used to collect designers’eye movement data when they were reading task text and drawing sketches;after that, high emotional matching value features were extracted from sketches, and combined into optimized imagery sketches;finally, designers’eye movement data was analyzed which was collected from observation and evaluation on the optimized imagery sketches. The results show that this sketch combination method can obtain higher emotional matching value sketches, and the designer’s own experience is directly proportional to the quantity, thinking dimensions, eye regression number of information resources invocation,so does the quality of design scheme. But it is inversely proportional to the operation time and the accuracy of the evaluation.
