Abstract
In the area of 3D modular architecture modeling,to overcome the limitations of less information for a single image and the local occlusions of adjacent building parts, this paper presents an interactive 3D modeling method for modular architectures, that is,from component modeling to joint optimization.First, according to the input single building image, user annotates six corner points of a single building component on the image. The system obtains the corner coordinates and constructs the cuboid initial part model by using correspondences between the corner points and the 3D geometric part, which will match the contour of building component on the image to realize the camera calibration. Then, the selected initial part model can be interactively edited to generate the adjacent components through matching the corresponding contour of building part on the image, which can reconstruct the adjacent building components according to the imaging consistency of the intrinsic camera’s parameters. Finally, the joint optimization step considering the projection and geometric constraints of the composite building is used to generate an accurate 3D modular architecture. The final real three-dimensional modular architecture can be synthesized according to the symmetry of building color texture.Using Emgucv library and OpenGL library on.NET platform, the system can build 3D architectures from a single image.Experimental results show that our proposed method can reconstruct the modular architectures in a single image easily and efficiently, and also has a strong sense of reality.
