Abstract
To effectively edit the input single flower image, a novel editing method is presented in this paperwhich is based on 3D flower structure fitting using cone proxy. Firstly, the foreground flower pixel set andthe background image pixel set can be marked by the user in the input single image. The foreground regioncan be extracted by using GrabCut algorithm and the background area can thus be restored effectively byusing PatchMatch algorithm. Secondly, in the extracted foreground flower region, two edge curves of eachflower petal can be drawn with user interactions. A cone will be fitted using the selected key points sampledfrom flower petal, and the symmetry plane of each petal can thus be determined by the fitted cone. Using theinherent symmetry properties and symmetry planes, the depth information of flower petals can be computeddirectly and the 3D flower model can also be obtained. Finally, the 3D flowers can be effectively edited usingthe translation, rotation, zooming transformations etc. The transformed flower model can be projected tothe restored background area to edit the input 2D flower image. The experimental results show the effectivenessof our method for editing single flower image.
