Product Design Based on the Co-evolution of Axiomatic Design Matrix and Design Structure Matrix

Because of the obvious complementarity of axiomatic design (AD) and design structure matrix (DSM),it is considered that axiomatic design matrix (DM) and DSM can co-evolve step-by-step during the product design process,which can lead to an ideal integration of AD and DSM.In this paper,how to implement the divergent/convergent design process using the co-evolution of DM and DSM is investigated,including the divergent functional requirements solving based on DM and the convergent solution evaluation based on DSM.Taking a paper-smoothing machine as a design case study,the co-evolution of DM and DSM is described in detail.
