A Neighborhood Method for Roads Extraction from Color Raster Highways Traffic Maps

  • 摘要: 为了适应栅格地图向矢量地图自动转换的需求,提出一种从彩色栅格公路交通地图自动提取道路的邻域方法.首先应用特征匹配法自动提取地图中县城的标识符号,并建立一个道路提取准则,从已提取的标识符号的邻域中识别道路,再利用道路或噪声的特征消除噪声和误识别的道路;然后通过大量的实验定性和定量地评价了该方法的有效性和优越性.与其他方法相比,文中方法效率高、对地理对象的颜色不敏感,可从多类彩色栅格公路交通地图图像中自动提取道路.

     

    Abstract: A novel method for road extraction from color raster highway traffic maps, called neighborhood method, is proposed to meet the demand of transforming raster maps into vector maps.Firstly, a feature-matching algorithm is applied to recognize and extract automatically graphic symbols of all county towns.Secondly, a measure is put forward to extract the candidate road from each neighborhood of the extracted graphic symbols, and then some features of roads and noise are utilized to eliminate all noise and misrecognition of roads.Finally, a number of experiments evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.Compared with other methods, the proposed method is high-efficiency and insensitive to colors of geographic objects, and may be applied to some different types of color raster highway traffic map images.
