Algorithms for Selecting Optimal Cutters in Pocket Machining Based on Geometric Characteristics

  • 摘要: 刀具选取是复杂零件数控加工编程的一项重要内容,为实现数控加工程序编制过程中自动选取加工刀具,提高数控加工及其编程效率和质量,结合飞机整体壁板数控加工编程及其粗加工特点,提出基于几何特性的槽加工刀具自动选取算法.在分析刀具与可切削区域间关系的基础上,对Voronoi Mountain定义域进行修正,建立切削轮廓45°拔模体;并给出刀具的可切削面积、残留不可切削面积,以及小刀具半径计算方法;最后根据整体加工时间最短的原则确定最优加工刀具.该算法已在"飞机壁板快速数控加工编程系统"项目中得以应用,结果证明了其是可行、有效的.

     

    Abstract: Cutter selection is one of the most important tasks of NC programming.In order to improve efficiency and quality of NC machining and programming,an automatic cutter selection approach based on geometric characteristics was proposed according to the features of NC programming and rough machining of aircraft integral panels.Firstly,by analyzing the relationship between the cutter and its machinable area,the 45° draft of a profile was established by revising the domain of a voronoi mountain.Secondly,the calculating methods for machinable area,unmachinable area and the minimum radius of the cutter were presented;Lastly,the procedure for determining the optimal cutters was introduced based on the principle that the total time for machining pocket is the shortest.The proposed algorithms were developed and applied in a practical project.Resultsshow that the algorithms are feasible and valid.
