基于GPU的网格模型平滑阴影的实时绘制

GPU Based Real-Time Shadow Smoothing of Mesh Surfaces

  • 摘要: 为了绘制边界平滑的阴影效果,增强虚拟场景的真实感,提出一种基于GPU的平滑阴影实时绘制的算法.该算法通过重新定义阴影轮廓线得到网格模型上的精确阴影轮廓边界,利用阴影体算法获得边界平滑的阴影区域;阴影轮廓线的计算生成及阴影区域的绘制等过程利用GPU进行加速,可以实时绘制物体的阴影区域.实验结果表明,文中算法生成的阴影边界比已有算法更加平滑,并且在效率方面强于其他算法.

     

    Abstract: In order to draw smooth shadow and enhance the reality in virtual scene,we present a GPU based real-time method to realize shadow smoothing of coarse meshes.We compute the accurate silhouette of the mesh by redefining the shadow silhouette.Then we apply the shadow volume method to get the shadow region with smooth contour.We utilize GPU to accelerate the process of computing the silhouette and the rendering of shadow.The experiment results show that our method has better effect and the rendering speed is superior to the existing methods as well.
