Visual Simulation of Miscible Liquids

  • 摘要: 液体互溶混合现象在日常生活中非常常见,但是由于不同液体之间的交互扩散过程非常复杂,对于这类现象的真实感模拟非常困难.为此,提出一种基于体积函数的方法来模拟液体之间的互溶扩散现象.该方法中,流体方程采用二阶精度的有限体积法求解,通过在每个计算网格单元中跟踪记录每种液体组分在网格单元内所占的体积比例,来模拟不同液体之间的交互扩散过程;并利用基于八叉树的自适应网格细分算法对计算过程进行加速.实验结果表明,与已有方法相比,文中方法更加稳定,更容易获得细节丰富的液体交互模拟结果.

     

    Abstract: Liquid-liquid miscible interaction phenomena are ubiquitous in our everyday lives, while it is very difficult to simulate due to the complicated interaction process.In the paper, a volume function based method is proposed to simulate the liquid-liquid miscible interaction.In the method, the fluid equations are solved using a second order accurate finite volume method, and the miscible mutual interaction between different liquids is simulated through tracking the volume function of each liquid component in each grid cell.The computation is accelerated with an octree-based adaptive mesh refinement algorithm.The experiments show that the presented method is stable and can generate results with rich diffusion details.
